There’s something about Ajay Devgn and his calm! Always true to his style of acting, he remains one of the most bankable stars from the 90s era. Now, Ajay makes his OTT debut as ACP Rudra Veer Singh in Rudra – The Edge of Darkness on Disney+Hotstar. Ajay describes his character as a sharp cop, who is shown to have an inane ability of thinking like a criminal while hunting for one.

Set in Mumbai, Rudra-The Edge of Darkness is a pacy thriller about the psyche of highly intelligent criminals and the team of cops who catches them. Each of the six episodes features a new threat. While Rudra hunts for these criminals, he undergoes trials in his personal life too. Rudra forms a special bond with Aliyah – an intelligent sociopath, played by Raashii Khanna. However, he is married to the character played by Esha Deol, who makes a comeback with this show. This is an Indian adaption of the popular British series called ‘Luther’.

“This show is bigger than anything seen on OTT so far,” said Ajay, who was addressed as ‘Boss’ on the sets of this show. On being asked about his debut on OTT he said, “I am actually amongst the first ones from my league of actors to debut on OTT. And as technology is changing there will be a lot of more firsts for me, I am sure. We are actors, and we want to work. The most important part is the story we are trying to tell. OTT has a huge scope of telling very exciting stories.”

Comparing his character Rudra with the BBC original Luther he said, “I had seen the show couple of years back. Once I said Yes to Rudra! I never thought of seeing Luther again. I wanted to Indianize the character my way. It has definitely turned out to be bigger, better & bolder.”

Ajay’s OTT debut comes after almost 30years of acting on the big screen but he had no qualms in accepting that he still gets nervous before giving a shot. “Every day is a challenge for me, no matter how many years it has been. I am one of those guys, who either enjoy the work or go back home. While playing Rudra, I really enjoyed the role.”

The series will drop on Disney+Hotstar on March 4th, 2022.
